About HSLDA Contests Every year, HSLDA offers quarterly contests in art, poetry, photography, and essay writing, open to all homeschooled students (ages 719). Through its contests, HSLDA hopes to offer homeschooled students the opportunity to hone their skills in a fun and creative setting that invites them to think outside the box and be For this contest, the essays are meant to present the writer s point of view in a sense, his argument for his opinion.

But there are many different ways you could go about doing this. You could use the narrative approach and tell about a personal experience, or one from history, to demonstrate your point.

If you teach in a coop, encourage all of the teens (the more the merrier! ) to enter the contests and include this as one of the assignments for your class. Exciting announcement ahead! HSLDAs writing contest is opening in September!
