Oxford Essay Competition A sixthform pupil from Methodist College has been awarded first prize in a prestigious History essay competition held by St. Hildas College Oxford. Annual essay competition, giving pupils in Year 12 (or equivalent) an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills creatively by writing a short essay on a specific theme.

The Staton Essay Prize focuses on the Humanities, Academic competitions for schools and colleges Several colleges and departments of the University of Oxford run competitions which are open to students from schools and colleges. Please do encourage your students to enter. 57 rows  St Hughs provides excellent facilities for studying History: the library has unusually large and uptodate Since the establishment of the essay competition in 1994, 50 school students have been given prizes; many of these people went on to study History at Oxford and St Hughs.

St Peter's College has established two essay prizes in Philosophy, the top prize being to the value of 250, the second prize being to the value of 150. In addition to monetary prizes, all submitted essays which in the opinion of the judges are of a high enough standard will be commended.

Established in 2006, the Lloyd Davies Philosophy Prize is an essay competition open to students in Year 12 or the Lower 6th. The first prize is 250, and there may also be a second prize of 150. The Department of History Y12L6 History Essay prize. The Department of History is proud to sponsor a Y12L6 History essay prize competition. The competition is open to Year 12 or Lower Sixth students from schools and colleges anywhere in the UK (a maximum of two applicants per schoolcollege per year).
